I'm sorry to hear you're having such a difficult time. Let me start off by saying that K2, while technically legal currently in most states, can still be dangerous. The side effects of this "drug" concoction are still unknown and I would strongly advise you to stop using it altogether. As for your palpitations, it is hard to say what these were caused by. There is a good chance that since they occurred in the setting of smoking this K2, the drug/herbs were likely responsible and they should go away if you stop using K2. The chance of any permanent damage to your heart is very slim. The K2 could have been laced with some other drug or substance as well since this substance isn't regulated. There is always a chance that the palpitations were due to a heart arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat. If you continue to have episodes of these palpitations then please tell your physician and a work-up can be initiated. Otherwise, if they don't come back, the drug was the likely culprit. As for your high blood pressure, you are a bit young to have high blood pressure but it isn't impossible. There are some rare causes of high blood pressure in young people that you should ask your physician about if your blood pressure is truly elevated. Otherwise, many things can cause transient elevations in blood pressure such as pain, anxiety, exercise. Make sure your physician checks your blood pressure at more than one visit while you are relaxed to get an accurate assessment. I hope this informations helps. You sound like a healthy young man. Stay involved in athletics and get plenty of exercise. Stop using substances such as K2, and certainly avoid illicit drugs. If there is anyone in your family that has had palpitations or sudden cardiac death, please see your physician before engaging in any rigorous athletic activity.
Best of luck.
There was just an article on MSN about K2 - an abnormally high amount of people were going to the ER with potentially life threatening side effects due to an ingredient mixed with the main component.
