The link to ANGIOGRAM at the bottom of your post gives a doctor's information about an angiogram with a cath (intervention) that is threaded through a vessel to your heart. Takes about an hour and a surgical doctor will be on standby in the event there is a puncture, etc. My complaint is an interventional cardiologists is inclined to implant stents during the procedure.  Sometimes stents are not really necessary, and statistics indicate there are many stents and could have been successfully treated with medication.

My current doctor is a non-interventional cardiologist (recommended CT scan) and treats with medication as an option, the first doctor I had was an interventional cardiologist who favors stents as a remedy ....during angiopgram he stented the RCA artery and viewed another vessel with 72% blockage and did nothing.  Two months later he wanted to do another angiogram and stent the 72% blocked artery...I had no symptoms!.  Needless to say he is history.

Recently, I had a CT 64-slice scan angiogram.  It takes about 10 minutes after an injection of contrast medium and medication to lower your heart rate (slower heart, better images).  The CT scan is more inclusive as it views the entire anatomy of the vessel, descending aorta and the respiratory system. The CT scan quantifies and calculates the degree of plaque within the 4 major arteries and provides a statistical prognosis related to a known data base with years of research.

Angiogram is when the doctors go up through your groin into your heart, use some dye, and checked for blocked arteries.  Sometimes they check the pressure in the valves.  A mild sedative is given before to relax you.  It will definitely show if there is anything wrong with your heart and it is worth it.  If they see blocked arteries they may choose to stent them to keep them open at that time.
