Thanks for the wise advice
Seeing the cardiologist next week and cardiac rehab following
Been taking my meds (aspirin, ticagrelor, bisoprolol, atorvastatin) regularly and eating really clean, including half portion of oats in the day, and 1 portion at night.
Keeping fingers crossed.
Agree with tacolino. After a significant MI and being treated in your case with a stent (Drug Eluting Stent) it maybe take a long period to recover and gain strength. The event itself weakens the heart, and has a global impact throughout your body. The medications can make you feel tired. LAD blockage is nothing to laugh off. I had a stent placed when mine was blocked at 75%.
The heart attack and weakness go hand in hand. 35% EF after a major heart attack is not the worst news. I suspect if you take your meds, do light exercise/following doc's orders and watch diet you will increase your ejection fraction to a higher level. 35% post PCTA with a significant LAD lesion is a decent number.
What people need to understand is that you can't rush recovery....if you overdo it, your body will quickly remind you. You will feel tired--that's par for the course. There is no quicky feel-better timeline. It's individual and is in the months, not days. Best of Luck. Get a workout rehab prescribed or discussed with your cardiologist and don't go crazy. This is the tortoise and hare...the tortoise approach will work better.
Hi There. Well regarding your prognosis, obviously you have had a very serious cardiac event involving your LAD. You were very lucky with the rapid intervention.
Then you had a follow up angioplasty/ Stent. How has your BP numbers been over the recent past? If its up, it could effect the EF in the longer term.
I am no doctor, but I think you should take it one step at a time. The standard advise is to start with brisk walking, building up to a decent daily walk. Ask your doc about the Gym? It may be advisable to start slowly and crawl before you walk. Perhaps swimming could also be considered as a progression option in regaining your fitness. I presume you are taking asprin & Plavix after the stent? What other meds have been prescribed for you?
EF can sometimes get better depending on the cause of the reduced percentage. 35% is not the worst, considering what you went through,
It would be best to get clarity from your Cardiologist regarding the short term fitness regieme. Keep us posted
