I am a 44 yo female non smoker, 5'6, 145 lb who has been experiencing left vice like arm pain more consistently over the last few weeks. I failed my ekg as well. My mother was 44 when she had her first heart attack and my brother and sister both have had MI's and surgery in their 40's. I am scheduled for a calcium scoring test but am not sure how accurate this testing is and am pretty sure it wont show arterial blockages. I understand there are alot of false positives on ekg's but the arm pain is real and becoming pretty consistent. Wouldn't a nuclear stress or a catherization be an appropriate next step? I am glad at least my dr. is taking this seriously. They never believed my pre menopausal mother with normal cholesterol levels at 120 lbs and she ended up severely damaged as a result. However, I'm concerned with these extra tests/steps. I have two young children to worry about. Thanks.
