beta-interferons & blood pressure meds

Diagnosed over a year ago w/ MS.  Was allergic to Copaxone & placed on beta-interferons three months ago.  Pre-hypertensive condition has now escalated to high blood pressure routinely.  Within last week, waking BP has been 158/109, 143/104, 139/100 despite having lost weight.  Concern over possible prescribing of BP meds.  Know that family history shows adverse effects from cholesterol-lowering statins.  What BP meds will work?

Doesn't your Doctor know a BP lowering medication that will work? There are different ways to tackle high blood pressure but it can depend if there's a known cause for it. Is there a known underlying cause for your high blood pressure?
