bicuspid aortic valve disease

I am a male 28 years old, 89 kgs weight and 180cm hight. I have been diagnosed to have BAVD. my recent echo shows following results: Mitral Valve; Normal, Aortic Valve; moderate AI,Pulmonary Valve; Normal ,Tricuspid Valve; Normal
LVEDD (cm) =5.9
LVESD (cm)= 3.7
LA(cm) =3.8
Aortic root (cm) =3.9
pericardium=Normal
Ejection fraction= 60%
Normal Systolic function
Normal PA systolic pressure

Am I a condidate for aortic valve replacement now ?
If yes what type ; Mechanical or biological valve is sugessted?
If I do not do the surgery now am I in danger?

Hi ,thank you very much for yr message, yes please talk to yr doctor ,I can send you the echo cardio reports of my heart to be shown to yr doctor,I need his consultancy and I can pay for his consultansy fee.Both Doctors I have seen are cardiologist. I need to know if surgery at this stage is to my benefit or I should wait until my condition is changed .
problem is one of cardiologist say to me I have " Moderate Aortic insufficency with no stenosis and good functioning " he thinks I do not need any surgery for years the other one says I Have" severe aortic insufficiency with no stenosis" any he suggested valve replacement.This is why I am confused, Appreciste yr helps. I am not on any medication right now, I have been on blood pressure medications only once as an adult.  I guess both doctors you saw were cardiologist??  I am not sure what the difference is between aortic insufficiency and aortic stenosis, but hey here is a great website with a lot of other heart patients you can talk to, might help you out, http://www.*******************.com/  I have an appointment this Monday with my cardio doc, I'm going to ask him your question, I'll let you know his response.  I have what they call moderate aortic stenosis.

My doctor says I have  severe aortic insufficiency with no aortic stenosis, aortic annulus: 2.7cm, my problem is that one Doctor suggest I have aortic valve replacement and other says no need for surgery now and he wants to put me on medification, CAPTOPRIL.Are you on any medification? what ?

I am 44 now, I have been getting treated for several years for Asthma symptoms but not so sure now, I have an appointment Monday with my Cardio guy so I am going to ask him.  I feel tired a lot and although last year i did a half marathon, only fast walking just a little running, I now get tired when walking too fast even a few minutes.  Did your doctor tell you if the valve has stenosis?  If you have swelling that is something I would mention to your doctor.

hi,thank you for yr comment, The only syptom I have is swelling joints once a while. How old are you now ?

Hi, I too have a bicuspid aortic valve, have known since I was born about this problem, also had a coartation of my aorta at age 7.  What is the AV opening size do you know?  Are you having any symptoms, such as shortness of breath, being tired, chest pain of any sort?  My doctor so far as just continued to monitor me, my valve is 1.0 cm, not sure about my other text results, just had an echo last week.  Good luck to you.....
