cardio workout

I am now working on a threadmill for 1 hour 5 days a week...  The question  I have is I am taking Bystolic  Imdur  ER   and Lisiniprol  which I know the Bystolic keeps the heart rate way down...at what rate should I use for heart rate for training ..  My max would normally 158  but I am not sure what changes on meds.......Thanks    Rich

Thanks Flycaster   Thats exactly what I found out ....I can go at 3.5 mph walking for 45 min. and I cant get my heartrate over 105 ...  What you say with the difficulty makes sense .....I just didnt realize that it would keep you that low..  Thanks     Rich

This is probably a question best answered by your doctor.  There are other factors that enter into an answer, such as age, conditioning etc.  That being said, I found when taking the type of drugs you are taking that I had difficulty getting my heart rate above 110 bpm.  I used what rehab workers called 'perception of difficulty'.  Basically, I worked out until I felt a degree of fatigue that was uncomfortable, and backed off a bit.  I no longer take the drugs mentioned because of bypass surgery and also have a pacemaker, but always felt the drugs were like throwing out a sea anchor when speed was wanted, they definitely affect exercise.
