chest pain after stent placement

I am a 45 years old guy. I knew my cholesterol was high but I did not take enough measures to tackle that problem.
During the last 2 years I started running and was on a steady 10 miles run every week. I assumed that my running alone would take care of lowering my high cholesterol. I was wrong.
On March 13/2010. I was rushed to the hospital by paramedicas due to a chest pain. Immediatelly after arriving at the hospital I was taken to the operation room where the docor placed a stent on my heart because the coronary artery was clogged.
He put me on medicine; plavix 71, aspirin 81, metoprolol 25m, lisinopril 5mgs. nexium 40m. all this daily.
Now a month later I went back to the hospital cause I had chest pain. As a result of that I had a stress test done and the doctor said not to worry because it wasn't the heart.
Over two months after the stent and I still feel chest pains.
I sometimes wonder if those pain are because of the procedure used to place the stent which was a catherization.
Could it be perhaps because the doctor had to push that stent into my body all the way through my chest and the finally onto the coronary artery?
Was it maybe the trayectory the stent went through my chest that left my chest like that?
I am confused?

I see on your post that you are taking plavix and nexium.  Please check with your cardiolgist concerning these two meds taken together.  According to the FDA the nexium inhibits the plavix from working properly. I also have a stent and was taking the nexium with plavix. My cardio took me off the nexium and put me on pepcid. Google plavix and nexium to get more info on this subject or go to the FDA website.

That is not a very good diagnosis to have a doctor say what is not the cause. Did the doctor prescribe a nitrate for chest pains?  If it is not the heart, did (s)he refer you to a pulmonary specialist?  Is the chest pain the same as your original pain?

There are many causes for chest pains, and a good doctor wouldn't tell you what isn't the cause and then dismiss any responsibility for further examination or referal.

Sometimes the chest pains can be due to medication. When I came off beta blockers I found a lot of chest pain stopped. Are your chest pains associated with exertion or do they appear at any time, even at rest? Do you get them when you eat?
