Hi, yes Tietze's disease can cause chest pain in children. But this is usually the ‘point tenderness’, as Tietze syndrome is a benign inflammation of one or more of the costal cartilages. If with movement the child is getting pain it is likely to be an inflammation of the skin, subcutaneous tissue or the bone. This can happen with injury, repetitive activity or an infection of the skin. Also, constant coughing could cause muscle strain and chest pain. Sometimes the pleura, the lining of the chest cavity and lungs can get inflamed causing pain with coughing. Only a consultation with your pediatrician can help diagnose the cause. Regards.
