congenital heart disease

Hi,

iam 46 years old for me they have done echo test and told that there is hole heart. there are telling me that.It has to be closed through device.they told that they will put ballon in the heart if it with stands then they will close the hole with mesh.if not they are telling that it has to be operated through open heart surgery.for all the people will ballon will with stand.how are the chances through device will it be 100% success.are there any chances of failure.i want to know plz help me .iam sending my reports

i have written echo test report so plz suggest me wat to do ??should i go through device treatment??.and i have BP it is in control.what are the things should ask the doctor before going through the device fix??.wat are the tests to be done before the device fix???

and one more thing clarification that should i go to cardiologist or cardiac surgeon.can u plz advise me wat are things should i take care before going for operation plz

hi

i have some mild chest pain rarely once in 10 or 15 days so for that purpose i went to hospital and they have advisied me for echo test.

Hi,
can you explain why you had the echo done in the first place?  

You have the most common ASD, and are lucky the shunting is L-R, but it's a pretty good size.  Because your right ventricle is somewhat dilated, they may want to close the hole to avoid development of pulmonary hypertension.  You may have right heart pressure beginning to increase, and by closing the hole, it would help avoid further problems developing within the heart.  Also things such as TIA's and strokes have some linkage to holes in the heart.
You should followup with a cardiologist that specializes in adult congenital heart disease.
