I typed that wrong. I meant to say that it is possible to have elevated enzymes without *permanent* heart damage.
What surgery did you have?
It is possible to have elevated enzymes and ischemic chest pain without actual heart damage. My dad had this very thing happen. He had a triple CABG surgery, but his heart suffered no actual damage since he recognized the signs and sought help right away.
thans so much, i am so confused..my enzymes were greater than 22..whatever that means..So i have one doctor telling me i had a minor heart attack and one telling me i didn't..i lost alot of blood after surgery and they didn't catch it until the next morning , so that is what happend,,,but i had severe chest pain that whole night..
Yes. There are cardiac-specific enzyme that will be elevated if a person is having a heart attack or cardiac event. Specifically these would be Troponin and Creatine Phosphokinase (CPK). Troponin is most specific since CPK can be found in other muscles. When the heart is injured (due to a cardiac event) it will put out enzymes in the blood. If a person has an elevated cardiac Troponin level, providing it is not an error, something is wrong with their heart.
