Mild regurgitation is considered medically insignificant and usually of no concern. It is common and of no significant sequelae...the valve leaflet don't close tightly over the valve opening and when the ventricle contracts some blood leak backs into the atrium.

If the leakage is moderate to severe, there usually are symptoms and treatment is required.  If the doctor said not be concerned that would indicate mild leakage!

My dopplet showed a leaky valve going back to the heart.  Told not to worry.  Is this a sound idea or should I seek different advice?

The doppler is a program associated with an echo that color codes the blood flow through the heart and valves.  My echo showed red for normal flow through the valves and green for back flow (leakage, regurgitation).
