I had cabg  surgery 20 months ago and have a raised and very painful scar on my chest.  My PCP has referred me to a Dermatologist (maybe for Cortisone injections).  Is this common?  It is so painful and has started affecting my quality of life.

I am Dr. Arch Miller and am on the reconstructive surgery forum. The steroid injections can work quite well, and sometimes simply surgically removing it can work. Good luck, repectfully,
