fluid in lungs after triple bypass

Hello. My brother's mother in law had triple bypass surgery a month or so ago.(November 2010)
She has fluid in a lung. Been drained once.
and just was told she has a month or two to live.
Is there anything she can actively do to help her live longer or to cure the situation for good?

She is a fighter and I don't believe she is ready to give up

Please respond.I would really appreciate all comments

>>>>Seven years ago I had congested heart failure due to ischemia (lack of blood flow to heart cells) due to the heart not pumping strong enough to provide a good blood flow into circulation.  What happens when the heart has weak contractions, the blood from the lungs backup and fluids leak into the lung tissues....that is the congestion (edema).
I was in ICU several days to drain fluids and stabiize oxygen level in the lungs.

Before there are any answers to your question, the underlying cause should be known.  Was in-law's heart pumping within a normal range.  Sometimes there is an emergency operation and the heart is enlarged and poor contractions, etc.  With that condition it is difficult for the heart to return to normal functionality.  Or is there a new unexpected health issue?

With medication and a stent implant, my heart is now a normal size and functioning normally.  I wasn't expected to live much longer... I have not had any days with any medical problem...not even a common cold for going on 7 years.  I exercise 3 times a week, proper diet, etc. so that may have much to do with the situation.

How well your brother's mother in law improves may depend on her current health with no serious concomitant health issues, etc.  Everything will probably turn out well.

Thanks for sharing, and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond.  Take care.

I think it may be helpful if you gave us a little more info to go on.  Why did she have triple bypass surgery first off.....and if the docs are the ones who told you that she has a month or so to live why or what did they see that makes them feel like this....what part of her body is failing?  I think that without more info it would be a little hard to weigh in on what you could do to help her ....try to give us as much info as your can.....is she at home?  is she in the hospital? are her only issues the heart? what was she diagnosed with?  how old is she?  i think the more info the better.....
