heart concern

Im about to turn 40 and I went for a yearly physical and the docotr did a ekg, it said that I had a possible left aterial inlargement. I asked the doctor and he said the ekg was fine and to not believ what it said I was fine. I had an ekg at my cardio docotr 8 months ago and he said I was completely fine healthy heart and would see me back in 8 months which is this week. I do take meds for high blood pressure and I have missed some doses. is it possible to have a change in the heart the quick ? i just get worried I have bad family history and a uncle that died at 44

Don't worry about it if the doctor said it's fine. EKG machines interpret the results but it takes a doctor to make the final determination. Missing a few doses would have literally no impact at all.

If your doctor did a thorough check of your health and nothing abnormal , except that possible LA enlargement, came out the test, I would not worry about it too much.

EKG criteria are not very specific for LA enlargement so if you are further healthy, your LA is probably just fine.

LA enlargement can be the result of hypertension or from i.e. a leaky valve.
I guess your doctor did measure blood pressure?
A leaky valve can be detected with a stethoscope.

If you keep worrying about it, you could ask for an echo to rule out the LA enlargement.
