I think you should be on an statin, especially given your history of Diabetes, stents, etc. I would discuss it with the Endo and get his/her opinion before stopping the statin.
Statins can cause muscle aches and pain, but I would definitely make sure it is the statin causing this.
Your numbers are very low, I don't think you need to be on them at all. If your cholesterol gets too low, it can be just as unhealthy as having it high. Cholesterol is actually the building blocks for all hormones, and if you do not have enough, you will get sick. The muscle aches and pains are only the beginning.
I'm having some muscle aches and pains. She thinks it could be from the statin. But my main concern is she is not the doctor who prescribed them for me. It was my endocrinologist who prescribed them. I really don't know if she had the right to take me off them without notifying the endo. I think my endo wants me on them because of my diabetes. I have an appt with the Endo in 2 weeks. I will discuss it with him.
I did not have a heart attack. Blockage in LAD that was stented.
I wanted someones opinion because when I read the answers from the Cleveland Clinic Docs, they always say that anyone with Drug eluded stent should always be on bp, plavics and statin meds.
Thanks for your replies. If you have any other opinions, please let me know.
Why does your physician want you off the statin?
Your numbers look good. Do you have heart disease, or have you ever had a heart attack? This can be a little tricky because the statin mayvery well be helping with keeping your numbers down. Why does your Dr want you off of it? Are you having side effects? Remar
