heart disease

My husband is due to have a stent fitted tomorrow, is there any restricitions on alcohol after a stent is fitted, as he does drink every night in order to sleep instead of using painkillers as he broke his back many years ago and lives with the disability and pain. I am worried that he will really stuggle not to have a drink of alcohol

The stents themselves aren't affected by alcohol that I know of, I've not received warnings during my history of receiving stents.  However, some heart medications warn about the use of alcohol.  I'd certainly pose your  question to your doctor.

Alcohol in moderation is always the key.  I too, love my wine in the evening.  I have stents that have been there since 2004 without any problems.  But I know that even wine can be dangerous in excess.  Take care, Ally
