There is not anything that can specifically "strengthen" your heart muscles. However, maintaining good cardiovascular fitness through diet and exercise is always the first recommendation by most physicians. This involves eating a heart-healthy diet that is low in saturated fats and sodium and rich in fruits and vegetables. The American Heart Association also recommends routine cardiovascular exercise of 20-30 minutes at least 4-5 times per week. This includes jogging, biking, swimming, or any other aerobic exercise.
As long as you are in good health any aerobic exercise where you raise your heart rate for a sustained period of time improves cardiovascular fitness. There is a simple calculation for determining your maximum exercise heart rate goal - I think it is 200 minus your age - -then 80% of that number is your max heart rate. Considering your age you should consult doctor before you take my word on it.
