heart/stroke

hi, my name is kathy, and on wed of last week, i was in front of the washer ready to do the wash and I got cheest pains like tons of bricks were sitting on my chest then my jaws started to hurt and i had a lump( it felt like) throat and my lips started to go numb. and after a few mins it went away, in the past I get this feeling of all the blood in my body is rushing from my feet to my head and it seems like my ears are closing off., and then i feel like i am going to past out, then it goes away. I went to the doc 6 days later( I know why did I wait scare I guess) but the doctor took a EKG and checked my blood pressure and both were fine? Now I have to go on the 8th of may to have a Stress Echo test. What will it find out or will it end up being like my doc visit?? please help me.

Hi tkfilly,

Hello and welcome to the Heart Forums.  Sorry you have to be here, but it's the best place to be if you're searching for answers/help related to a cardiac condition...

The experience you had sounds pretty scary...Promise us if that happens again, you will call 911 or get to an ER right away.  I'm glad you made a doctor appointment and that you were checked out....Good on the EKG and BP : )

A stress echo is a test that will allow the doctor to evaluate what your heart does when it is stressed (either in the form of walking on a treatmill or with a medication induced event).  The doctor will be able to see what the walls, chambers and valves are doing.  He/she will be able to determine is stress (exercise) can provoke your heart.  It can be quite a helpful test.  Here is a link from the "Health Pages" that may help:

Hope you have great test results!!  Keep us posted.
