inverted t waves

Woman 63 yrs, 200 pounds. On ekg at annual physical this week: slightly inverted t waves on V1 -V5, flat t waves on aVR, aVL, aVF, V6. Always good BP, (current aver.115/75) always good cholest/triglyc, no cardiac/pulm symptoms, TSH was .12  at time of EKG.  PCP concerned re ischemia. (1) Earliest appt w cardiologist late June, is appt needed sooner? (2) Advisable next test, if needed?  93) Suggestions for cardiac self-care (apart from losing weight)? Thank you!

Dear lola8282,

Without being able to review your entire history (including your ecg) it will not be possible to give you an exact answer but generally speaking the the urgency of further cardiology workup in your case would depend on the presence of new symptoms associated with ecg changes in your routine ecg.
If you have any new symptoms (e.g.  chest pains, shortness of breath with exertion, increased fatigue) I would try to get cardiac evaluation asap.
On the other hand if you don’t have any symptoms and only your routine ecg showed changes which you described I would simply talk to your primary doctor about him/her ordering stress test asap (e.g stress echocardiogram) and hold with pushing for early cardiology appointment until results of stress test is available (i.e if the stress test is negative you may likely wait until late June for cardiology appointment).
I would not recommend any self -cardiac care BEFORE presence of significant coronary disease (blockages in heart vessels) is ruled out by stress test.

Thank you very much for your reply. Based on your response, I found a highly rated cardiology practice that scheduled me in for a battery of tests within a few days of my original post, including a nuclear stress test, cardiac ultrasound, carotid ultrasound and other tests. After reviewing the results, including comparison to a 2005 EKG, the cardiologist said that I was wired a little differently and that an inverted T wave was normal for me, does not present a risk and there are no blockages showing in any vessels.  I really appreciate your encouraging me to get the stress test promptly!
