is there a danger in lots of palpitations?

Last November, at age 19, I first experienced a heart palpitation or PVC.  They occured irregularly until June of this year, when I expierenced a sudden and dramatic surge in them.  Of the ones I now notice, I would estimate I have about 50 heart palpitations a day.  I went to the doctor last week and had an EKG (which turned out normal), bloodwork (also normal), a holter monitor (results as of yet unknown), and a 2D echo (results not yet in).  My question is even if all else is normal, can frequent PVCs that occur at this rate everyday be harmful?  I've done all the reading on the harmlessness of PVCs with a regular heart rhythm and no signs of heart disease, but it just seems like if the heart skips beats that often, it could still be dangerous or indicate another problem??  I'm still just 20 years old now, so I'm not terribly concerned about heart attacks, and feel too old to be concerned about the possibility of a congenital heart defect, but something is just not right! Please help.

This is just a repeat of what the others have said but. . . .I've had various arrhythmias all my life including PVC's and PAC's. I'm now 54 years old. Yes, they can go bump in the night (and day) but they're pretty harmless. That's why I call them my heart hiccups. Sorry they've started up in your heart but take heart (pun intended), life goes on and you can have a great time in spite of them.

I was around your age when mine first started. I'm 43 now and still have them. Some years worse then others.
Count your blessings if you only have 50 or so a day.
Myself and many others here have them in the thousands and 10's of thousands everyday.
I'm just coming out of a year long cycle of nearly constant PVC's where the majority of the time they were every 1 to 4 heartbeats (bigeminy, quad) or 15 to 30 per minute almost all day and night long. I'm still here and plan to be around for a long time to come.

If you do Holter monitoring of 1000 people with structurally normal hearts for 24 hours, nearly 100 percent of them will have anywhere from a few to several hundred premature contractions, many occurring during sleep.

Try not to worry about them. They feel bad at times, but there really not dangerous.

Best wishes.

Hi. Totally agree with RCA7591. I was born with a heart defect (TGA). My heart has been structurally redesigned. As a consequence I have had 6-700 Ectopics per day recorded on a Holter Monitor. Even my Cardiologists tell me not to worry about them, so in a heart that is normal, like yours you really shouldnt stress. In fact most people get extra beats, its just that they dont know about them! Dont worry, you will be fine.
