Cardiologist told me to lose 5-10 pounds he said im really active and exercise already, so weight lose is the only real thing to do. so ill try and lose 5-10 pounds not easy! but overall it all looked good. EKG blood work ultrasound, sonogram. BP Labs. He said my weight is High on the normal scale but im not fat just a bigger guy.
The main thing is to keep the total < 150. This is a level where heart disease does not develop. If the total is <150 the HDL does not matter.
HDL is the "good cholesterol" in that it is cardiorotective. A low level is considered a cardiac risk factor. The goal is always to treat high LDL (bad cholesterol) first and then consider treating low HDL. Based on the information you have provided your LDL is at goal and the next step for HDL increase is diet and exercise to lose weight. There are also medications that may help but first diet and exercise should be done.
