I am 44 yrs old (female) with hx of mitochondrial myopathy with severe resp. muscle weakness, restrictive lung disease and just dx'ed with emphysema.(non-smoker) All of this has been documented by testing etc. Also hx of htn-on meds for this. Because of potential for cardiac involvement, I have been followed by a cardiologist. I have had muga scans the last 3 yrs . Last years muga showed lvef of 65%,decreased compliance and stiffness of lv. The rvef was around 50%. I just had one a couple weeks ago. The nurse called me today with the preliminary report- lvef 76%,rvef,75%. The nurse said my dr would call me with the official report. I normally see him once a year but the nurse said he would want to see me sooner than that- not sure why.
My question(s) is: is the higher ef something to be concerned about? I do have shortness of breath with exertion and at night. I often have to get out of bed because of the shortness of breath.
Thank you for your time.
