my father died at 34 years old

my father died in 1976 at age 34, he was in very good health, not over weight or any other problems that i know of. he did have pneumonia twice within a few months of his death. he was very sick 3 days before he died and had beed to 3 different hospitals and they all sent him home. on his autopsy report it said that he died of myocardio infarction. after all these years i still can't believe this. how could a healthy young man die of a heart attack. the report did'nt say if there was any blockage or not. i think it was the inflamation from the pneumonia. that many years ago could this just be a blanket diagnosis for what happened to him, heart attack? if anyone knows anything about his please let me know. of course i know i'll never find out for sure what really happened. he was from a family of 8 and they're all getting up there in years now and only one sister had a heart attack during an operation at age 80 and his mother died they think of a heart attack in her sleep at age 84, and she still smoked! i would appreciate any input as this has bothered me for so many years. thanks. remar

thanks for answering my post, i understand what your saying but i just have to wonder if the pneumonia had anything to do with it. and why did 3 different hospitals send him home if he was sick? i guess i've just never gotten over it, he was so young. he did'nt get to walk me or my sister down the isle or know his grandchildren.i take it that you've had heart problems, how are you doing? again, thanks for posting to me. remar

People of all ages and in excellent health have heart attacks every day.  If that's what the autopsy showed, that's probably what happened.  Sounds like the family history doesn't indicate heart problems, but...........mine didn't either.  As the cardiologists say, genetics has to start somewhere.

Be of good cheer.
