pacer was for an inappropriate sinus tachycardia ablation that went bad. they ablated to much and ended up dropping in the 30s, junctional rhythm, for my heart rate. had to put single chamber atrial pacer in.
Hi. May I ask what the reason was for having your pacemaker implanted?
Hi KAD,
It depends on how it looks and what symptoms (if any) that you are having. We take pacemaker infections very seriously. If the device becomes infected or "seeded" it almost always has to be extracted.
If you are having no symptoms and the keloid simply fell or rubbed off, the bleeding and redness could be from trauma rather than infection. If it looks infected, you will probably be admitted for IV antibiotics and blood cultures. If it truly doesn't look infected, they may do local care (bandage, cleaning) and wait to see if it heals. they may give you antibiotics just in case as a precaution.
Make sure the area is clean and I would talk to your EP soon (tomorrow is soon enough) about how they want to approach the issue.
Good luck.
