pericardial fat pad/scarring

My husband received an abnormal chest x ray followed by a CT to confirm. Impression is "Prominent right pericardial fat pad. Some minimal scarring or atelectasis in the right middle lobe abutting the pericardial fat pad is seen." Everything else was noted as normal..... 38 yr. old male with Asthma. What do they do for this? Should we be worried? Is this prominent fat pad normal? HELP!

There is some recent cardiac MRI evidence that presence of pericardial fat is a risk factor for coronary atherosclerosis. Does he have any symptoms of chest pain, shortness of breath, lower extremity swelling? If so then he may need to be evaluated for this disorder, with an echocardiogram and a stress test.
The other problem is called ARVD ( arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia) which is a problem mainly with the right ventricle  where fibrosis causes fat to replace healthy heart muscle. These people can pass out easily and have a high risk of sudden cardiac death. He should have an echocardiogram to rule this out ( to show that his RV size and function are normal), and a holter monitor to rule out life threatening arrhythmias.

I went to the emergency room because I've had cold/flu symptoms for 5 to 6 wks and cannot get well, along with bad back pain upper right hand side.  they said everything was normal but I had a "prominent left pericardial fat pad" on my heart.  What does this mean?  The emergency
Dr. told me I had allergies and sent me home.  this was on the radiology report 2 days later.
