Left ventricular hypertrophy and hypertension

Dear Dr,
i am a guy of 25 yrs,i recently visited the hospital with complains of palpitation and headaches.i was made to do ECG and echocardiography, my Bp was 140/90mmhg. I was told that i have left ventricular hypertrophy and hypertension.I was started on B blockers. My home Bp has been 110/70 to 120/80mmhg since i started taking the B blockers, my daily dose is 1.25mg of Nebilet( B blocker). My question is can there be regression in the hypertrophy and i easily get anxious could it have been the cause of the hypertension and the hypertropohy.Thank you.

Your anxiety would cause blood pressure to increase, which would cause the heart to work harder to overcome this, which would cause the muscle to thicken so it can work harder more easily. With your blood pressure in a good range now (110/70), your heart has to work less hard, which means it should return to its normal state. The beta blocker works by blocking certain receptors on your heart that prevent chemicals such as adrenaline affecting it so much. This prevents the heart over working.

Thank you for the answer, although am taking the beta blockers i get quite anxious when am doing public activities(speaking in public, doing sutures infront of my classmates). My hand and voice shake when am talking in public.  I dont avoid engaging in public speaking,i try speaking in public the least chance i get but very short statements.I did some few reading about beta blockers and i saw that it help relieve anxiety . i once complained to my Dr but He says is nothing to worry about.I was given vitamin B6 and Magnesium combined for tremors. If Beta blockers help with anxiety why does my heart races, voice and hand still shake in public activities like speaking and suturing infront of my classmates. Will constant racing of my heart in public activity cause the hypertrophy to increase.Thank you
