possible drug reactions

Hello everyone,

I just learned from Mercola, N.D. that a class of drugs called floroquinolones can cause cardiac symptoms: Tachycardia, shortness of breath, hypertension, palpitations and chest pain. The most common ones are:       Avelox (moxifloxacin)
Cipro (ciprofloxacin),  Factive (gemifloxacin),  Floxin (ofloxacin), Levaquin (levofloxacin), Noroxin (norfloxacin),
     and Tequin (gatifloxacin).
If you have taken any of these drugs, do you remember if you took them before or after you developed cardiac symptoms. I am wondering if my cardiac symptoms are due to taking Avelox for a sinus infection. If you do need an antibioitic make sure that your doctor does not prescribe any of these drugs. They are associated with a number of devastating reactions.

There are so many medications that mention "tachy" as a possible side effect. I'm not sure if the arrhythmia becomes permanent however. Often it clears up once the medication is discontinued/ended. I've taken Cipro a couple of times now and I'm prone to arrhythmias LOL and never noticed any difference while on the med. My albuterol for asthma cranks up my heart rate but only for 10 minutes or so.

If anyone is concerned about a side effect from a medication, particularly a heart effect, ask the doctor or pharmacist. It would be a shame to avoid some very helpful medications because they might cause a side effect. (I can't believe I'm saying that because I avoid pills every chance I get)

I would support your contention regarding supportive medicines used for cardiac conditions. As for me, I had a score of pills to combat an MI including beta blockers, anti hypertensives, digoxin, enalapiril and human insulin. On developing sudden irregularities in heart beats my cardiologist discontinued all medications.I am still wondering why that is being done and am worried about bradycardia which would necessitate a pacemaker implantation.
