problems with verapamil 360mg

I have a question to ask, im on verapamil 360mg  1 1/2 pills a day (sa)
the pharm dept at longs drugs, changed brands of medications last month, since iv been on this type of verapamil
iv been throwing up in the a.m aprox 1hour or so after taking it - and got very light headed after and thru the day.
and just have been sick !  not wanting to go out or do anything. not depressed but sick !  the other verapamil was a
white pill same dose but said SR on it .. this new one is blue - could it be the pills im allergic to the filler or type of pill
as didnt get sick from the other brand ?  also I was told by a RN  that we shouldnt cutt pills -even if scored to cutt.
as they cause alot of side effects and problems to happen when cutt.  I feel awfull , and now its been a week sick ..
had one good day !

thanks for any input here

You ask a good question !  well its seems I went to my Doctor and I asked him to please
re-perscribe the meds in proper doseage  like 360mg as whole pills are aval ..
he said to me, No you can those pills ,its ok and safe to do it .how long have you been
taking them ? he said - I replyed  Doc, iv been on them (off and on) for about 2years now
and iv been sick and haveing side effects from them since !  could be a reason for it ..
cutting pills ??   He refused me , a simple task that would take a few mins to write out
or call in .  honestly I feel he wants to make money off me , handing me more drugs for side effect problems.   but now hes got a good one , as I get blood sugar drop offs
from the medications , its a known long term side effect that happens with beta blockers  and ccbs.  no doctor will tell you this !  untill its too late !!

Im so sick and tired of these guessing doctors ,that im buying a new treadmill tomorrow and will start working out daily for 2 hours and up to 4hours a day.
and loose waight and eat right , no more soda pop ! no more junk foods.
as well im taking fish oil daily and ldlx 2  for cholesterol  and will go on a tested and
confirmed natural blood pressure lowering medication .
as I to be fully honest ,can not tollerate any chemical medication , and iv been on these since the 1980s.   its wrecked my life totaly and caused nothing but problems
since iv been on them.  I must change and do something to help myself  as doctors
are stuck to chemicals and guessing at symptoms only.. and not fixing the problems.

sorry to throw this at you !  but had to let it out..

doctors should know better than telling someone to cutt pills in half.  when they can
give you the correct dose with no problems at all.

thank you for responding .. Ed

I was wondering how your supposed to take 1-1/2 of your meds when your not supposed to cut them at all? how silly are the pharmacists where your at? I would ask your Dr how your supposed to cut a pill in 1/2 if they arent to be cut

I was just wondering what your blood pressure was before taking verapamil?
I was accidentally prescribed 480mg of that drug ontop of my usual 2.5mg of
Ramapril so I know 360 must relate to a very high blood pressure. That caused my
BP to fall to 55/31 and I came close to death. The verapamil was prescibed for a 90
year old man in the bed at the end of the ward but ended up in my discharge bag.

Slow release or long acting pills should not be cut because the coating contributes to the long acting factor. And some meds are meant to pass through the stomach and into the bowel to be released there.

I've heard of some folks being sensitive to the various fillers in meds but trying to find out what's used is another story.

Are there any markings on the blue pills (get out the magnifying glass now :-). Are these Verapamil marked as slow release or extended release (er) on the bottle? If you need to take 1 1/2 pills, wonder why they can't just give you the appropriate pill in the dose you need. And I had such high hopes for you and this new doctor.
