re mitral insufficieny problems

can anyone answer me this question PLEASE

I was diagnosed with slight mvp with slight mitral insufficiency  (1/4). almost 12yrs ago.

checked again last year the same. question is i now have a cold for the past 2 days with 1 slight enlarged tonsil.
no fever just very sore throat.i've been paranoid about pus harming my valve. is it possbile ?

Well, pus indicates an infection, and if serious there should be a fever.  If the condition is strep throat (tonsillitis), that is a specific type of infection caused by the streptococcus bacteria. Strep tonsillitis can cause secondary damage to the heart valves (rheumatic fever) and kidneys (glomerulonephritis). It can also lead to a skin rash (scarlet fever), sinusitis, pneumonia, and ear infections
