skipped heart beat

Hi my name is David
im 54 and have lived a very active life in the past with Karate and gymnastics dominating most of my life, i ran track long distance and loved to play both paddle ball and hand ball, Unfortunately because of "degenerative" althritist i have at times severe lowerback pain and generally very stiff and slow moving, i still lift a little weight and still am stronger the the average male my age and have the upper body strenght to prove it. My big change came when i had my first bout of kidney stone that scared the hell outta me!! then came the big bills and realized for the first time that if i ever got really sick i would be in very "DEEP" problems cause my insurance offered by my co. is basically crap!!! anyways i started having these skipped heartbeats they are very annoying and i feel to cough and have a strange feeling in my throat, suffice to say they also scare me too, becuase i don't want my only son of 15 to grow up with out me, i love him very much and have raised him by myself since he was born, i have had ultrsounf and a houlter monitor and waiting to see a cardiologist,  priar i have had 2 EKGS and they only thing they found was a slightly elevated blood pressure, nothing else so next week i will hear from the experts!!...but im scared!!!

Arrhythmias can be very scary and can make you feel terrible.  They can, in many cases, cause you to become lightheaded and dizzy, and can take your breath away.  But, most of the time they are more a nuisance than anything else.  Take a deep breath and try not to worry until you have a reason to worry.  Seeing the cardiologist is the first step and you say you are taking that step.  Take care, Ally

Skipped beats are not uncomon and many people learn to live with the annoyance.  The EKGs and holter test should/would have caught anything serious.  Blood pressure can be marginally higher at times, but it is high pressure sustained and an average of a series measurements thoughout a day and over a period of time that would provide a more accurate mesasurement.

If the skipped beats are a medical problem, there is medication. It doesn't appear to be anything serious that you should be concerned over.

Thanks for sharing and if you have any further questions you are welcome to respond/  Take care.
