turning bluish grey in bath water

my 4 year old has a lengthy history.  he does have some issues with his heart like mild infundibular stenosis (wahtever  that is) RBBB. PFO, Pectus EX. and Asthma. my question is why does he turn bluish grey when he takes a bath, this happens most of the time. last night his 02 sats went to 93 (I know that isn't bad) his are normally 99. he was just a tad grey, not nearly as bad as he can get. there is no signs of any type of distress. I heard this could mean is blood vessels might be dialating and I was told it could be dangerous. is this possible. I am really nervous about giving him a bath his Primary docotr just took notes and put a call into his Cardiologist with no explaination for this. they are considering doing an event monitoring, due to him having questionable palpations and chest pain. I not sure if this is going to work I know this is a 50/50 chance of catching any type of arrythmeia
thanks
Michelle

If I were you I would bring him to an experienced pediatric congenital heart disease center.  There is one here at the Cleveland clinic, at mayo clinic and in Texas Heart.  I think you should get a second opinion regarding all this.  hang in there.  I realize that this is very difficult on you.

He does have some shunting, here is what his cardiologist says in his report. THERE IS A SMALL PFO WITH BIDIRECTIONAL SHUNTING. SHUNTING ACROSS THE PFO IS PREDOMINANTLY LEFT TO RIGHT, BUT THERE IS SOME INTERMITTENT RIGHT TO LEFT FLOW ACROSS THE PFO SEEN ON COLOR DOPPLER AND CONFIRMED WITH BUBBLE CONTRAST STUDY.
THERE IS A MILD INFUNDIBULAR STENOSIS WITH A PEAK GRADIENT OF 12-15 MMHG.  HIS EKG SHOWS A RBBB QRS MORPHPLOGY.
HE DOES HAVE A PECTUS THAT APPEARS TO BE MILD.
(a picture of his pectus is on the side here.) they did plan on having him have a cardiac cath, however they said it was more of a risk for him to have one then to leave it alone.I am not sure why he is at a higher risk then any other child. if it is due to his issues at hand, if it is the fact that he had MRSA after his heart surgery or if he had a blood clot forming at his PICC line and they are afraid of one of these happening again. My fear is him having a stroke. they said that  his PFO is so small that it is the size of a pin hole. there are no plans for them to do anything. his cardiologist feels that all of his problems are due to his asthma. (he does have asthma) Asthma doctor did a bronchoscopy to rule out anatomic obstruction and everything was nornal Mild increase secreations, but this maybe cause from him havign RSV 2 weeks prior (2nd bout of RSV for him).and he DOES NOT have any wheezing. execpt when he is sick.but he can't run without turning blue sometimes. he walks or runs and gets tired. rapid breathing many many times plus it is loud. he does have left sided chest pains and a few times has grab there to complain. he also gets a lttle giggle and says mommy i can feel my heart and i think i ate it. i ask him about it and he can feel it on the left side of his chest going up into his throat.
they are going to do a event monitor.
I am very nervous about having him take a bath. last night he got out and his 02 sats were 91 and his HR was 62. not sure if that is a thing with his HR on the low side. he does have tacycardic issus at times also. like over 175 then he drops to mid 50's to low 60's. (this has been caught by his RN that comes out) I know i was told they don't worry about his HR unless it is over 140 BPM for a while while he is at rest. I also know that a normal sat should be above 95. he was mildy grey/blue last night I have seen him worse when he gets out.
I just want to figure out what is going on with my little man and have it solved. I am in fear of loosing him.
Than you for helping out with the squatting in the tub and the hand grip. (he is used to doing the aquatting he does that  a lot when he runs and can't keep up, due to his breathing rapid HR. Sometimes his teacher has to stop him
thank you again
Michelle

You are correct about the vessel dilation.  for this to happen however, he has to have some type of right to left shunting in his heart.  It is possible that he has a ASD or a VSD, especially with the RBBB.  When the peripheral circulation dilates, more blood goes into the periphery and less into the lung because of his infandibular stenosis.  Have him do a handgrip or have him squat every 4 seconds or so during the bath.  If his gray color goes away that would be all consistent.  What are the plans regarding his infandibular stenosis?  Its ok for him to get his regular baths.
