The UK have never used KM ? Europe uses that. Measuring distance isn't more accurate with one method or another. If I measure a distance in inches or centimetres, none will be more accurate than the other.
Didn't the UK used to use Kilometers and now use Miles? If the metric system is best then why did they change? ;-)
There are loads of online converters where you enter a value and tell it which system to convert to. I believe there may be different factors for converting triglycerides though.
here's a simple example

Thanks Ed, last time I had my cholesterol checked ( in hospital ) it was 1.9 - Last week I took advantage of the local Tesco pharmacy's offer of free Cholesterol test. The test failed and came up as "error" because it was only effective upto 2.5 and therefore my level was below that.
On these forums I keep seeing Cholesterol figures ( US ) which clearly could not be same as in UK. Guess will need a converter.
Just to add, it's only the US, Liberia and I believe Burma who do not use the SI system adopted by the rest of the world. The SI system is more accurate and it's likely all countries will eventually adopt it.
