viral infection of heart;causes?

My friend has had pyrrorhea for many years,and has now ended up in the hospital with a serious viral infection of the heart.Could this be the cause?

i am 25 and just got out of the hospital because of viral infection that attacted my heart and caused pericarditis, and weakend the muscle which droped my heart infraction down to 30% after a month of treatment i have made a complete recovery my heart infraction is 66% now and my heart looks good.

Yes, the virus associated with pyrrorhea can effect the heart by pericarditis (inflammation of the lining of the heart).  Also, the heart valves can be effected and probably the heart muscle.
