what can it be?

I have this shortness of breath..  I blamed it on the PVC's I get.. but discovered I get it when there are no PVC's happening.  I had a chemical stress test which showed very little plaque in my artery.. was explained that the test showed a shaded area and wasn't sure whether it was just that or plaque..  Cardiologist said take a baby aspirin and put me on cholestrol med..  livello...  my cholestrelol isn't that bad but DR. wants me to get it lower..  I have asthma and I am overweight but trying to work on this.  I am on Toprol xl  and using a inhaler..  What can this shortness of breath be..?  it comes over me off and on... I do have alot of anxiety but this doesn't feel like this, its happening when I am not anxious.  I am very worried and confused?

Thats why it is so upsetting for me cause I dont know if my SOB is from asthma, my pvc's or stress.?   I get SOB from just sitting watching tv..  it feels funny in my chest area, wheezing and coughing...  I get this from a run of pvc's!!!  Wouldn't myocardial dysfunction show on my tests?  I had a echo w/contrast, or the stress ???

It is hard to give you a specific recommendation through internet. Generally speaking, patients with intermittent shortness of breath (SOB) have one of these diagnoses (asthma exacerbation, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (tobacco), pulmonary fibrosis, obesity/deconditioning or myocardial dysfunction. You did not explain if you get SOB at rest or exercise, or if you can associate it with something else. If your stress test was normal and the pumping of the heart is normal, I would think that is more likely related to your asthma or your weight. Toprol is a beta blocker and, although it is cardioselective, in some patients can produce constriction of the lung air way and increase asthma symptoms. You have to explain better your symptoms in order to give a more specific answer. Good luck.
