what size aortic valve root for surgery

I have a aortic root that measures 5.5 to 5.6 - at what size is surgery recommended? I have been on Diovan for about a year now and I have been cold and clammy, faint, light headed. I am now under going echo cardiogram, stess test and CT scans.  Please help as I have been feeling poorly for along time now.
Thank you for your help.

Jim

I agree with kenkeith. My son also has a dilated aortic root.  His cardiologist is suggesting we see a surgeon when his aortic root reaches 4.5 cm.  He is at 4.0 cm now as a 15 year old.  God Bless.

When the aorta root size is greater than 4.0 cm it is considered an aneursym and when the size gets to 5 cm there becomes some concern for a possible rupture.  There really isn't any practical reason to delay surgery unless one has other serious medical conditions or poor general health.
