For a perspective, when the left ventricle is not pumping efficienctly (meaning the heart is pumping significallty less blood into circulation than it receives from the right side of the heart). The blood backs up causing an increase in heart size in an attempt to compensate. That is the usual cardiovascular issue.
The breathing issue may be due to the blood backing up into the chest causing fluids to leak into the lungs. This will effect breathing and sometimes a dry cough...worst case scenario. Would need more information usually from an echocardiogram that includes chamber size. left ventricle ejection fraction (percent of blood pumped with each heartbeat), and structure abnormality, etc.
Hope this helps, and if you have any further questions or comments, you are welcome to respond. Take care, and thanks for sharing.
