Absences and pauses during your heart rate are usually due to arrhythmias. This irregular heart rate is caused by malfunctioning electrical impulses in your heart. They can also be caused by caffeine, over-the-counter cold medications or asthma medications. It is suggested to consult a cardiologist. Your doctor may not advise any treatment unless it becomes more serious or you have other symptoms. In serious cases a pacemaker may be implanted to help stimulate your heart. Keep me posted.
Best luck and regards!
