I am 73 and taking warfarin for afib, what med can I take over the counter to help my head/chest cold?

I steer clear of anything that has a decongestant in it...ie sudafed.  It causes my palpations to get worse.  I usually just suffer through with mucinex and use a vaporizer at night.

My doc said to use zyrtec for a cold if you have afib, which I do. Most antihistamines will up your blood pressure causing worse fib action. Have you ever had shock treatment? I'm thinking about it.  Goodmac

I think most are usable as long as they do not contain aspirin.  There has been discussion here that some may stimulate palpitations.  I suffer from permanent AFib, but don't detect any increase in intensity form use of over-the-counter cold/allergy medication.

I buy Walmar "Equate" lower cost if I can.  Examples are equates for Benadryl and Sudifed (Spelling?).
