Arrhythmia's after eating!

I seem to get really bad palpitations after eating and my heart beat is usually stronger and more forceful.  I've been checked out by quite a few ER doctors in the last year or two and they did a number of tests including chest xrays, EKG, blood tests and they have all come back normal.  I just don't know what could be causing this and it's driving me insane.

Suggest you search for - Arrhythmia caused by vagus nerve - I have this as well and believe it may be related to small hiatal hernia/non-acid reflux GERD.
esophagus/vagal irritation can cause your symptoms.

Yes, I too get an elevated heart rate and short of breath after eating.  As curmudgen said, it is likely related to the vagus nerve so get your stomach checked out for any underlying issues that you can correct and it may help alleviate the symptoms for you.

I have an EP and he has no idea why I go into afib, it usually happens after I eat. I will get a pain in my chest or rib cage. I started seeing a holistic doctor and she thinks that I have an esophageal digestive disorder.  She just started treating me for that, also my thyroid was not stable. I did some research and decided to try an Alkaline diet, I bought the book and it has all kinds of recipes in it to keep you alkaline and I bought the test strips. I started doing a lot of juicing with lots of carrots, celery, cucumbers, beets and apples. I add Barley grass to my juice. It wasn't to long before my afib was getting less and less.
I still get it but not as often and it does not last as long as it use to. I find that grains and sugar and sometimes nuts will trigger it. I eat sprouted bread and cereal and sprouted pasta. I am so much better than I was a year ago. I think in time that this Alkaline diet will heal me. I also drink alkaline water and use an ionizer pen around my neck. I hope this is of some help to those of you who have this afib problem.
The doctors have no clue, all they know is pills and I do not want to live the rest of my life on meds. I also take several vitamins that are for the heart.
I have a fruit smoothie every night before I go to bed with protein powder. It is important to keep those protein levels up there. I buy big bags of frozen fruits and put a half a cup of mixed berries, mango's and a banana with one cup of yogurt and a scoop of protein powder. Fruits digest quickly so as long as you are up for a couple of hours after drinking it you should be fine. Good Luck to all of you.

I have the same thing. and it does drive you crazy after awhile. You might want to see your doctor and see what he/she says about doing an upper GI to check for a Hiatal Hernia, which is what I have, along with other GI problems with GERD. I take achiphex daily to help with the reflux. But still get arrythmias, alot of tomes after eating, lying down, bending over. I don't like these beats anymore than any of us here, so you have plenty of company if that is any comfort to you. My doctor once told me, that these palpitations are a 'random phenomena'. it is a hackned expression, but Hang in There.
