Can stomach movement affect heart rate?

So I'm sitting down watching TV and all of a sudden I feel my stomach do a quick jolt. It felt like air in my stomach. Then my heart rate goes out of rhythm, heart beat speeds up, then I cough twice real hard and everything's back to normal. Right after that a cold feeling goes from my shoulders, down my arms, to my hands and then my hands start to sweat and then that goes away. Everything back to normal. All in a matter of about 3 seconds. Any idea what that was?

That sounds like an autonomic nervous system response!
The vagus nerve is in that area and might have been the jolt.
Perhaps you do not have autonomic nervous system issues, but typically people who have issues like that will have different symptoms that can include temp regulations issues for a moment like feeling hot, then cold or shivering, sensations going down the body.  If you find it keeps happening be sure the doctor or neurologist you go to is knowledgeable in autonomic issues, as many doctors are not.

Could be a simple autonomic response to something called a premature beat or it could be that a premature beat triggered a short run of svt.  Without being caught on a monitor it is hard to say.  Odds are whatever it is, is not a health threat to you but you may want to speak to your doctor and get your heart checked out to be sure. If this happens often you may need to wear a monitor to try and record what is going on but it does have to happen often enough to get caught.  In any event, watch things that upset your stomach and caffeine. They seem to be the biggest triggers for premature beats for me.
