Ectopic beats after eating

I had them really bad last night. Had a big curry as a treat after two weeks of dieting and felt so stuffed I couldnt breath, that then kicked off my anxiety and intrun my ectopic beats, I only had two though. I was panicking so bad ! But after reading this I'm not alone and it must be normal. Even Cardiologist said anxiety is my main problem

I have something really interesting according to my Cardiologist. Back in Oct 2006 I was complaining of ectopic beats, had an ECG which was fine and doc said it was normal and was symptoms of me getting anxious/worked up. I've suffered depression and anxiety and worry about anything. Got them really badly again in Jan/Feb 2007 so went back. Did another ECG and it showed a slight abnormality. Went for test at hospital, ECG + echo and they found Left Bundle Branch Block. I then worried like mad so cardiologist did more tests. I did a stress test and walked uphill for 16 mins perfectly and he said that was "fantastic" and in the top 2% in the country. I then had a 24 hour tape. This was then interesting ! Apparently the tape showed up incomplete LBBB and during sleep I had "normal" complexes and everything returned to normal. He said not to worry as he believes I don’t have ischaemic heart disease and that I'm healthy and that this is nothing to worry about and that this is just slight variation from the norm. My worry is that could anxiety and stress/depression have brought this on by the last 6-7 years of depression ? Cardio says lots of people have RBBB/LBBB and don’t even know they have it and those who do have it lead perfectly "normal" lives. I wonder whether it could have been caused by the above coupled with the fact I was VERY active, fit and sporty and went from that to binging on alcohol, smoking and eating junk food and becoming 3 and a half stone overweight and still am ? I'm male, 27, 6'1 and weigh 17st 4 lbs. I must stress I worry about anything, hence why I look for answers all the time and am posting on here. I believe a lot of it is also passed through genes as Father has slight narrowing in two places of artery (angina) and he is 62 and his mother has a pacemaker and she is 80. My Mother also has a slightly enlarged ventricle. Basically, Cardio said he doesn’t need to see me again and the letter he sent my GP stated in the header the results were primarily Anxiety in bold font and an intermittent LBBB in small font.

Anyone else offer advice ?

Hi..I am 67 years male with excellent health..Looks that I seem to have the same condition...and have worsen over the years...I have done extensive reading over the internet...finally, not until a few minutes ago I came across this condition called ectopic heat beats...which seem to match all of what I feel...All tests I have had done show OK and doctors don't seem to pay attention to my symptoms. Coincidental they never happened during the electro cg...However I noticed that by taking a couple of alkazeltzer it aliviates and stops the ectopic condition in about 15 20 min...why I don't know..In my case I have noticed that when this ectopic condition comes is always together with acid..heart burn feeling...They worsen or start after eating and flat in bed..I am going to see a find a good doc in this matter....

Dude, what you are experiencing is not a serious problem. In fact it's not a physical problem at all. It is related to your constant worry, anxiety, and stress. I know this, because I have the skipped beats too, but they come and go. I can tend to control them a bit, to where sometimes it feels like a twitch in the stomach, and sometimes, it feels like a twitch in the upper chest. Sometimes they are even painful, or feel like an electrical shock internally.
Now ask yourself this question; when your heart has a normal beat, you don't feel it, or if you do, it feels normal. But if it has an extra beat, you feel a shock, or even a sharp shocking pain. Why? I believe it's all in our heads. When i was a kid, i would notice these skipped beats, but they didn't feel weird, I could just feel them in the change of rhythm. My wife has them about every five or so beats, all the time, but she didn't even know it until I listened to her heart one day. She said, well i guess that's normal, because I'm still alive. I said yep.
So, to conclude. I have read many, many posts on other sites about this condition, and it is NOT the condition that is the problem, because it's part of normal heart function, but instead, the problem is all in the mind, becoming aware of something that you should not be aware of.
My best treatment is this: Exercise daily, decide the skipped beats are not painful, try to ignore them, notice that you are not dizzy, weak, or dead. Reduce stress if you can, do NOT take drugs to do this. also, avoid pizza and any other excessively high fat food, it seems to be a trigger. Also highly acidic things such as citrus juices or the fruit itself, can trigger it. I don't know, but I suspect that nerve bundles in the stomach and intestines are close by the vagus nerve and other areas where there may be possible 'bleed-over' of impulses. Just a guess there.
But in any case, you will not die from this, or even have a disease or problem from it, other than mental problems that it may cause due to the extreme annoyance of it. Until you get your mind focused on something else, these may linger quite a while. Remember, there is usually NEVER a cause found, and, there are NO reported deaths from this. Nor blood clots, strokes, etc. I think of it like this. . Sometimes you get a muscle twitch in your leg or arm, or even your eyelid, and it lingers a few days, it's annoying.. There is no known cause, possible electrolyte imbalance sure, but who knows really. .  Then it goes away.  . Well , your heart is also a muscle, so I figure this is sort of like a muscle twitch. It will go away eventually, don't worry about it. Worry more about driving to work.
Good luck, and remember that thousands of other people also have this and it's not going to kill you.
