Heart Problem After Root Canal?

I have been experiancing tachycardia and palpitation for years for unknown reason (doctors still couldnt find it but it's not psychologycal problem) and on beta-blocker.

I just got root cannal treatment for 1 teeth last week for the 1 day. The doctor killed the nerve(thats what they told me) temporary filled it and sent me home.
Yesterday i went back there and the doctor said they clean up my root cannal and pull out the nerve, filled it and sent me home. I am not sure what exactly they did during the process since i couldn't really see.
They told me to come back next week.

But since yesterday after i went home from the doctor untill now my heart problem feels getting worse. I wonder if where is the problem because i have never gotten worse like this before for no reason. And before that i was constantly in the same condition as weeks and months ago.
I wonder if there is some side effect from it, maybe the drug (during the process or maybe the filling) or something else. (i dont take any drug for the root canal, not susch as pain killer)

Has anyone also experianced it or knows information about it?

Your help means a lot to me.

I went thru something super similar a couple of months ago....i got an infection and my heart started acting up super bad and i called my heart doctor  He immediately called the dentist and put me on a high dose of antibiotics and had me go back and the dentist had to pull the back molar.  Within 24 hours my heart issues stopped.  My heart doc said that i had an infection at the root and the infection got into my bloodstream and irritated the heart which he said is common w. people who have had prior heart issues.  The biggest lesson that i learned was that the heart doc was mad at the dentist because they did not pre medicate me before the dental work was done because he said that for some reason many dentists don't believe that we have to have antibiotics an hour before the dental work and immediately after and he said the the American Cardiology Institute and all of the other heart organizations have never changed that standard.  Now i know better but i went thru the same thing that you are and i would for one hundred percent call your heart doc or the dentist at the very least like NOW not waiting until this thing gets out of control and tell the dentist that you want to be put on antibiotics as a safety net because your heart is acting up.  If he/she has an issue w. that call your heart doc and tell them since the dental work was done your heart is progressively acting up and ask them to give you the antibiotics......i would not accept this because if that is the case it can get ugly.  Remember a root canal is done because there is an infection somewhere and they are trying to kill the root but the issue happens at the root thats where all of the bacteria sits.  Good luck with this and take it from some one who's been there done that recently and i will never in this lifetime ever have dental work done again without the antibiotics.....

MY ND thought my root canals were making me so sick there is not way to get the infection out of the tiny tubules and felt the root canal are contained infection and that dental issues may very be the  key heart issues and to all sort of illnesses,  I had both of my root canals  extracted and I then began having ozone and laser not at the same time to totally kill all the bacteria fungus viral etc,...After meeting with a university scientist I also had all the metal removed out of my mouth since metal conducts electricity as we all know I really do not want it close to my brain let a lone anywhere in my body.

it it super important to take the antibiotics for seven days or more just like your doc prescribes,
A lady had been sick for saw a million doctor finally went to and ND put her on parasite medicine at least  90 days she got super sick a day or to before she passed  a nest of parasite the parasties were hiding out in the colon and they had been  making her sick for years!

Root canals are dripping virulent strain of strep or staph or something other thing, so as you are sick for awhile and your  compromise this strain will take over and it is serious goes for your heart and can cause PERMANENT damage to heart valves you might new need valves by the time you  go throught the medical mouse maze ....but if your lucky and you have a super smart doctor who figures it is your teeth and by the time they squeeze you in for an appointment damage could of do not wait just go in an emergency case

Antibiotics are strong they kill all the good flora that helps  body fight illness. I took clindamycin, then I had a fungal overgrowth and my stomach flora was screwed uo for months that was it for me   no more! I started taking megadoses of probiotcs I get diagnosed by  MD doctor and get treated by mt ND hompathic or chinese medicine doctor. I had way too many problems with MD antibioti. i would rather slowkly get better  a little slower but know that I'm no going to have such extreme side effects from antibiotics that I need to have part of my colon removed

I had two root canals and I started having heart problems right after my root canals I knew that it couldn't be anything else because I never had heart problems before. At first I thought it was the pain medication they have me after the root canal so I stopped taking it but it seem like every day it would gradually get worse so I went to the hospital to see if something was wrong with my heart they said everything was fine. So I went back to the dentist and they said they could not check it right away because it would show scar tissue so I had to wait a whole month. When I went back to the dentist they took a X-ray of my teeth it showed that I had an infection in both of my root canals and it also showed that my roots in teeth was cracked. That's why I was having heart palpitations because the infection from my teeth was traveling through my blood stream from the roots of my teeth. So I had to have those teeth removed. RIGHT AFTER I had my teeth removed and I started taking antibiotics I never had another heart palpitation. So if you are having the same problems I had after a root canal get your teeth removed IMMEDIATELY because you could have serious health problems. One time when I was having the heart palpitations it felt like heart was going to stop beating. If you are having heart problems after a root canal and u know that it can not be anything else that could be causing it get that tooth REMOVED. If you don't want to have a missing tooth then just get a implant after. Don't second guess yourself only u know what's happing in your body not the dentist or a doctor.

Yes, she still feel its not necessary, i dont know why, maybe she doesnt know about it or maybe the rule is different in every counrty. So even if i feel better i still have to go to the doctor to get this checked because this last 2 days after the root canal i got issues with my heart? And the doctor will choose the dosage and how many days i should take the antibiotic for?

No unless it is something like a ZPac of antibiotics that the doc gives you which is a super dose and is taken for 3 days the doc should give you something like amoxicillin or penecillin if you aren't allergic and you have to take them for the full 7 days even if you feel better after a day or two because bacteria is stubborn and hides in the body and if you don't take the full dose it can pop right back up.  It would be remote possiblility if days later the meds the dentist gave you would do this...are you talking about the novacaine that she used to numb the general area while she did the root canal?  That has a very short life as its called and usually wears off after about 4-6 hours and even if she dosed you too high during the procedure you shouldn't still be having the residual effects three days later.  In most cases the doc should give you a double dose to start you off and then have you take a single dose until the pills are done....i do not understand what her problem is in giving you the antibiotics that is crazy to me unless you are allergic to them or for some reason you are on other medications that could conteract the antibiotic or the other meds.  Again if you are still having issues with your heart don't give up on this...call your heart doc or family doc to get them to help you out.  Three days after a root canal all you should be feeling is a little pain in the area and maybe a stiff jaw...if your heart is not acting up now and you have no other symptoms i still would not accept this because obviously something is lurking in your system.  If it were me i would definately get another dentist if you feel she is not taking your heart issues seriously and is ignoring you...shame on her and go to your family doc if you have to ...good luck with this.

Thanks cindy707 and debbier for your help i am glad :)
Well its been 3 days and untill last night i still feel bad, but this morning untill now i get better a little although i am not sure later i hope i wil get better. Anyway, so i should get to the doctor today and check my tooth and get antibiotic? Well i called the dentist yesterday and she still insist theres nothing wrong. So the only possibility why i got worse after the root canal is because the infection or the root canal not clean yet? its certainly not because of the drugs or filling she used? Sorry i gotta ask again because theres someone said that it could be the drugs or filling and i am new about this and doesnt quite understand.
Thank you again :)

I would call that dentist today even if its a Sunday if you are still having issues with your heart because infection travels fast in the body and the ugly bacteria tends to stick like glue and multiply when its in the body and irritates the heart valves.  I seriously wouldn't play around with this Kiseki because you could have some long term effects and a friend of mine thats a great registered nurse went thru the same thing, ignored it and ended up in ICU for 4 days because her bloodstream became infected and her heart totally gave the docs a run for the money.  If the dentist refuses to give you antibiotics which to me would be insane because it doesn't hurt a thing unless you are allergic to them you need to find a new dentist in the near future and then either call your family doc now or your heart doc now and tell them what is happening.  Like debbier says and she is right on the money here they are penetrating the roots that have a direct connection to the heart and basically shoving the bacteria down thru them and normally the body absorbs and eliminates infection but there are times where our systems are compromised because of a variety of things and can't fight back .... i would be livid if the dentist still refuses and would file a complaint with the boards if he/she still refuses...why would you not treat symptoms especially those that could be disasterous?  To me as hard core as it sounds thats negligence and they need their wrists slapped hard.....

I forgot to add, now that you mentioned it i do remember during the process the doctor said its hard to reach the root canals, its tiny and crooked. I dont know if this could be the issues. Also i read on the net when googling that its hard to clean all the branches of the root canal and maintain it free from bacteria later. Which could do harm and root canal can fail too even my dentist said that :(
Anyway so your friend got heart issues after root canal? And so what did your friend do? was it turn out ok than?

Hello everyone and thanks for replying and the information, i really appreciate it :)

to debbier: thanks for the input.
infection in 1 hour after the root canal process, so that's possible? so if theres still a nerve left in there can caused my heart problem get worse? than i should get this tooth checked i guess. Well i already called the dentist but she said she didn't do anything wrong and she said it's only because i'm too worried which i'm not and she said i should go to my cardiologist instead :(

to bypeep:
Did u mean anesthetic?
Well when i ask about it the doctor said they didnt give me anesthetic. Although i don't know exactly what drugs they gave me during the process.
But even if they gave me anesthetic, wouldnt it be last more than 1 day? But its been 3 days now and i still feel worse from before the second appointment on root canal.

to cindy707: Thanks for the information. So did your heart act up after the root canal or not? Because mine was fine before the root canal. If the infection is there before the root canal, isnt the racing heart should occur even before the root canal? Or maybe the bacteria spreading because of the root canal? i still quite don't understand it. Also i tried to google about root canal and connection with heart and i surprised that i found many bad article about root canal and some people got issues with health days, months or years after root canal, it said that the tooth that got root canal easily got infected and bacteria spread and it will harm health. it makes me kind of worry, but i dont know if its true or not. I just hope the root canal isn't gonna caused me any harm. Anyway, the doctor didn't give me antibiotics, i will try what you suggested and ask them about it. Thank you :)

Wish I could have antibiotics. Every one closes my throat.  Using an epipen isn't all that safe for antibiotic allergy either, because use of the epipen can cause serious heart problems too.  Needing an antibiotic is very scary for me.

Lidocaine maybe? Any of the 'aine' drugs tend to stimulate the heart and nervous system.

It could be an infection or a nerve left in there.  I would suggest calling your dentist and following up,  I had a friend of mine have a similar issue and she had no prior heart issues.  Good Luck!
