wow u said your docs get concerned over 10 000-15000 pvcs/daily, i get 14000, mostly all in bigeminy cycles. My cardio didnt seem to blink at that, just said i could take beta blockers. Its odd how there can be such different opinions over these. It can get confusing and frustrating.
I agree with everyone else. I have Hypertrohic Obstructive cardiomyopathy, I can go long periods of time with hardly any symptoms and for no reason have a lot. I would keep my doctor informed if the pvc`s keep up, If they get really bad go to the ER and get checked out. Always better safe than sorry and try not to stress to much over it this can be a tough time time of the year for all of us.
Thankyou all for the comments,it means so much, I have alot of unexplained pains and palpataions all the sudden. And to itdood doc says hes not sure what caused cardiomyopathy maybe mono from when I was a kid. But I have only had symptoms for a year,mzak69 thanks no doc ever told me that,it really helps, happy holidays to you baby girl thanks for comment and to u all.
I agree with itdood, I have had DCM (Dilated Cardiomyopathy) for 15 years now and what we focus on is the cardiomyopathy, I have had 4 ablations for various irregular heartbeats and my EP only suggested 1 of those for the PVC's, mainly because they were every other beat (bigeminy) for 7-8 hours per day. Now what I have ben told by my cardiologist is that with PVC's and cardiomyopathy it is like which came first the chicken or the egg, are the PVC's causing the cardiomyopathy or is the cardiomyopathy causing the PVC's. Excitement can cause irregular heartbeats, for the last 2 weeks I have been noticing more skipped beats (I have a personal ekg machine) and it showed that I skipped 3 QRS's and I didn't pass out or anything like that but I definitely felt it and it made me feel like I couldn't catch my breath. I think it's because of the holidays. I always notice more PVC's around certain holidays. With that said, I would still follow up with your doctor in reference to your cardiomyopathy just to make sure things are still the same. Happy Holidays
Have the palpations been caught on EKG and diagnosed?
What is causing the cardiomyopathy?
Cardiomyopathy means a disease of the heart muscle. This can cause heart palpations because as the muscle is changed by the disease process over time it can cause electrical issues. These can be what are called ectopic beats such as premature atrial or ventricular contractions.
Having heart palps can possibily mean there is a disease with the muscle (cardiomyopathy) and people are usually evaluated for this. If no issue is found the heart is deemed "structurally normal". You've been confirmed to have cardiomyopathy.
Personally I wouldn't focus on what the palps are, what they mean. You've already confirmed that you have cardiomyopathy. You should focus on this. Find out what the disease process is and what can be done to stop or slow the disease process.
I am not a doctor but I have learned alot about skipped beats (PVCs) over the last year because I've been dealing with them.
I've met with several cardiologists and EPs (electro-physiologists) that specialize with these types of issues. I was told that you need to have 10-15% abnormal heartbeats before they get concerned.
Your heart beats around 100,000 times a day, so you would have to get 10-15,000 of these a day. If you are getting just a few, even a few hundred, they generally don't get concerned.
You did say that you have cardio-myopathy, did your dr say if the skips are related to that?
Try not to worry-stress brings on more of them.
Good luck. :)
U may feel your heart skip 2 to 3 times but are normal beat between. You would get dizy and pass out if it skipped that many times. The pain is from those extra beats you feel so close pushing the blood out. You should be fine, it's scary believe I understand.
