worse PVC's PAC's

Here I am over a year later ....no ablation and no beta-blocker anymore ....I still have PVC's and PAC's EVERYDAY almost 50% of the day. Some are painful and make me dizzy or a hot flash will accompany or a headache and nausea. Doctors say that it is normal but i feel otherwise. recently My doctor Prescribed Zithromax 1 time dose at 2 500mg pills for an infection,  while taking it i felt horrible . I felt worse than i have ever felt in life. It gave me unclear thoughts, I couldn't drive due to a foggy mind, it made my heart race and skip , i actually had to go to the ER because i thought I would die. Now it is 2 and a half weeks later and i am still nauseated and have the confusion on and off also my PVC's are worse than ever . Is this normal with this drug? has my benign PVCs and PAC'c turned into a life threatening Arrhythmia ?

I suffered PACs and PVCs for about 3 years about a couple of years ago. I quit smoking and cut back on drinking and stop caffeine but I was still having any where between 5000 to 10000 episodes a day. All my electrolytes checked normal my heart was fine according to all the cardiologist tests. I started to take magnesium supplement and with in a few weeks they were completely gone. I took magnesium with calcium with a 2:1 calcium to magnesium ratio along with vitamin D. The amount that I took was 800 mg or calcium and 400 mg or magnesium and 400 ius of vitiman D. This got rid of them and I still talk this supplement every day. I have few here and there maybe less then 10 episodes and most days none. Even if your blood results check normal for magnesium it doesn't mean it's not low. Because magnesium is mostly stored in the muscle and skeletal tissue and in the heart. Try it out I am telling you this worked for me and was about to go have an ablation done because I was so tired of having PACs and PVCs. If it works for you, please share this to other sufferers.

I've had them for years too ....in my late fifties now and no heart attack yet.  The heart dr mentioned ablation ???  when we talked over a year ago and he did say it was alittle extreme.  He also told there is drugs for the skipped beats ...but he said taking them is worse then having the beats.  I guess bad side effects with them.  I do take Ativan sometimes at night when I want to sleep but only a low dosage.  Without going into details...I find these beats are taking control of my life. I know what panic attacks are and this is not what I'm getting.  Even when I exercise the skipped beats dont go away ...just get worse ...hence me getting dizzy.  I'm really so tired and sick of them.

Ps: panic over your ectopics will also cause lightheadedness, dizziness, and shortness of breath.

I agree with everyone else here. I've been dealing with these things for over 30 years not only am I still alive but I'm getting more used to them -PVCs PACs and PSVT! I do know, that when I was having panic attacks over them and living in fear all day, every day I used to have a lot more. The fear and panic only exacerbates them. Ativan helped me then and still does in the rare cases when I need it, when they are really bad. Keep coming here, and let us know how you're doing, good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

So sorry Susan, I feel your pain, right now mine are gone but I know they will be back and when they do they are awful , every other beat, drives me crazy

Are you taking anything for the nerves, I take Ativan when mine get really bad , it don't take them away but makes them less forceful so better to deal with them.

I have PAC , had since 23 now 55 and I am still alive lol
I hate them and when my anxiety acts up it's even worse

Hang in there we are with you, hug

Mine are starting to make me light headed.  When I mentioned this to my old doc ...he was like ...well...u had tests ...they are skipped beats ..u have to live with them. You never took a heart attack yet...lol..sheesh.  I understand that ...but now they are here more and more and all day long ....its really hard on the nerves.  Like I said ...I've had them for years ...but now they are getting worse.

I see nothing wrong with that approach, except for this:

Given that your heart is almost certainly healthy, and that Acebutolol will also probably not eliminate your extrasystoles, you will very likely have to find a way to deal with the fact that an irregular--but benignly irregular--pulse is part of your genetic makeup.

You will live a long and healthy life, and the odds are that weird heart thumps will be part of the whole thing.

In those who are youngish or have structurally normal hearts, ectopic beats such as PVCs and PACs are benign. They are very, very common, and have no medical significance.

Some people are more sensitive to the medically meaningless sensations produced by these odd beats, and for such people, ectopics are extremely frightening.  They can be paralyzing.  They can ruin lives, if you let them.

Psychotherapy, and often medications, can help tremendously with this problem.  For those who are opposed to such treatment, or who cannot afford it, this little book, "Hope and Help For Your Nerves," by Dr. Claire Weekes, can both explain and comfort.

I've had pvcs/skipped beats for years.  I find now they are getting worse.  When I hear people on here say they have 9 a day or 20 a day, I think to myself, my god, you should get 9 a minute and then see what its like. Normal, normal, Bam ...normal, normal, Bam ....this is me ....30 times a minute sometimes ....sometimes if I'm lucky its down to 5 but that's rare.  It's driving me sooo crazy and I wish to God that I could be normal again.  Reading the comments here help alot but like I said ..sometimes they increase as mine have.  I drink decaffinated tea ...maybe 2 cups a day ...don't drink ...don't smoke .....and try to eat healthy.  Had blood tests (thyroid) and all is normal other than alittle anemia. Just wanted to say I know what you guys are going thru.

I'm 66 and had Pvc bout. Presc_ Metoprolol 25mg. That was worse problem_side effects.
If you only have Pvcs and heart otherwise OK, see if you can stop drugs, and eliminate triggers.... caffeine, stress, alcohol.
Mine took months to go away, but did eventually after all stimulants removed.
And now I've even started to have a glass of red wine again!

yes, they are very annoying, and at times just down right scary.
i have had these PVCs mostly, since I was 29. It really gets me how or why they "act up", or as a good Doctor mentioned, "capricious" - at will, it seems. But, anyway, keep hanging in there, and for your peace of mind you might want to see a cardiologist again. hope you feel better

best to you

Thank you so much , I had a cardiologist a while ago so i decided to stop seeing him and go to another. Those are how mine was until the zithromax, i have treid the remedies and they would work sometimes. i tried the apple cider vinegar and i also tried the magnesium . i hate these things, they have been ailing me for 4 years now.

hello,

I do not know about Zithromax, however I would first be checked out by a cardiologist to rule out anything...perhaps a beta blocker would help. I, like many here, get PVCs daily, and PACs daily. Mine are as a Doctor put it, "capricious". they play around with you, wreck your day and night, then go away for awhile, then, like today with me, as I type on this blasted Ipad,
they drive me nuts. It is like they have a mind of their own. But do get checked over again, so you can at least have some peace of mind. you will find much support here from many others with this same disturbance.

best to you
