Inverted "T" Waves and what it mean?

Hi I am an 31 year old adult female. For the most part in great health, even according to my Gyn doctor. I was schedule to have a hysterectomy on March 24, so I had to go in for some pre-op tests on March 21. The day did not go to well prior to my tests due to my records not being sent over, and the staff (at my doctor office) not setting up the appointment. So after several hours of stressing and having to raise my voice to a supervisor (on the phone) my records were finally sent over and I was sent for the tests.

I had a EKG done and Chest X-ray, and blood work done. I was able to go home and told to come back on Monday for the surgery.

After an hour and half of being  home I was then called to go back to the hospital to redo the EKG because they weren't sure if the machine mess up or what was going on.....

So 40 minute drive back to the hospital and stressing again of OMG is something wrong with my heart!!!!!!

*****And anyone can tell you I am a major stresser, I stress with about anything and everything and always have******

They redo the EKG and it comes back exactly the same as the first ones. The nurses (even though they were not post to tell me told me) I had an irregular heartbeat but wouldn't tell me more about it.

I talked to my GYN doctor today and he told me I had Inverted "T" Waves and that he wants me to see a cardiologist before we do the surgery.

I have tried looking it up online of what an Inverted "T" Waves mean and me and my husband are just scratching our heads because even EKG images of Inverted "T" Waves supposely look exactly like a normal EKG image.

Should I panic? If anyone can give me some information that would be great, thank you

Mandi, I finally got in to see a cardiologist. They did a stress test and a echo of my heart right after the stress test (had to run on a treadmill for about 10 minutes with all the wires attached (not as easy as it sounds since the thread mill inclines and speeds up) and then the did the ultrasound of my heart. It showed I did not have an Inverted T Waves and that I was cleared for surgery. But the thing I did notice when they stuck the electrodes to me was that they sanded down my skin where they were going to place them (a little painful afterward with the sweat and all but totally worth it) basically they told me because I have super oily skin even without lotion of anything that they did not stick on me right before so gave a false reading. So suggest to the person next time that gives you a EKG to sand down the skin where they are going to place them (they were tiny squares with what felt like sandpaper on them)
I did even up having a hysterectomy done on 12/22/08 and since then I have no more problems and so thankful for the doctor that did my surgery.

  I also was told I have inverted t waves....could you PLEASE tell me what they did for you or what the dr told you about the t wave inversion.
(P.S. I too suffer from Endometriosis)

No I am not able to refer myself to a cardiologist I tried, and all of them says I have to get a referral from my primary physican. Which I will see on the 4th of April; so about 6 more days to go or so. The ER here won't tell me much unless I am having chest pains which I have never had chest pains or anything. I did have asthma about 10 years ago and once we moved about 2 hours south of there I haven't had to use an inhaler. I am trying not to stress over it but it is hard when you don't know if you have something majorly wrong with you.

try not to worry too much and let me know how you get on when you have seen your doc. can you not refer yourself to the cardiologist or if you are really worried go straight to accident and emergency or e.r i think you call it. i know that inversions can be signs of previous M I. but i also have been told that they can be normal in some people there is evidence of this on other sights to ease your worries.

My doctor is trying to get me in sooner but since he is a specialist (GYN) the cardiologist doctor won't take his referral because it is he doesn't allow specialist to refer to another specialist (we called around and every one seems to be that way) I have an appointment to see the doctor on my insurance card (my primary) but never seen him for my health issues only my husband has. We are hoping he will sign the referral because that is the only way I will be able to see a cardiologist, and be able to have my surgery

The only thing my doctor said to me was that it is odd to see this in a Healthy 31 year old female and that i freaked out the staff when they did my EKG.

I think the main reason why I panic was because he said the only time he seen a Inverted T Wave was in someone who had prior heart condition problems like a previous stroke, or heart disease. I think that is when I started freaking out about it.

I will look it up as T wave inversion thank you so much

try not to worry i have an inverted t wave too and absolutely panicked when i first found out as i was unsure what it meant but my consultant said it is just normal in some people. i am sure if they were really worried they would be doing something much quicker for you. did your consultant not suggest anything otherwise ???
