I forgot to ask. How about some of those post-ablation jokes you promised/threatened? Put up or shut up amigo. ;-)

Betty, just be glad you're still around to worry about the funny feelings in your heart. Also be glad you had a ventricular problem and that ablation worked. I had an atrial problem and they don't respond so well to ablation. Add to that the fact that I am naturally a big-hearted guy literally as well as metaphorically (atrial diameter of 5.7 cm) and my ablation didn't work more than 3 days. Now I get threatening calls and letters from a collections agency because the hospital and the insurance company disagree to the tune of $930.00 US. Fortunately, my heart is completely isolated from my body electrically so nothing they say can affect my heartrate (how's THAT for making lemonade?). ;-)
Just remember this little maxim: Every day you wake up on the green side of the sod is a good one. Over the hill is bad but it beats being UNDER the hill. Under the hill is for hobbits.

OMG, I have PTSD over my SVT!!!!!!!!!! My hubby just said that to me and I think he may be right! Seriously though, thanks all for writing. I'm much calmer now , I have to realize that my heart will try to go into SVT at times -that's not going to go away. It'll probably feel wierd when it wants to but can't. I wonder if I do have a little PTSD-post traumatic SVT disorder!! I never realized how traumatized I've been by the SVT-maybe because I had to deal with it for so many years. You all are so terrific- I've grown so fond of all of you. It's so conforting to know that when I need support, the cavalry comes to my rescue!!!!
i'm 3 months post ablation and very occasionally still get that "thump", i just feel so relieved that it doesn't turn into svt. my consultant has told me it takes 6 months for heart to heal and settle down. but i know exactly how you feel when you get that thump, you think oh no here we go. but greedave is right it should be a cause for rejoicing!
Can't think of any jokes (I'm English)), and I have no personal experince of an ablation, and hence no idea what you are going through but do know what you are hoping for, so really feel for you.!
But if I am readng this right pre ablation you would have recognised this as the start of an SVT and it did not happen . So is this not cause for rejoicing?
I had the same "weird" feelings. I thought for sure....."here we go." Prior to my ablations, I was regularly in bigeminy. After the second ablation, it took about 7-8 weeks for everything to settle down. Since that time, I am RARELY in bigeminy, and if I am, it's for a few minutes....not for hours and hours and hours......
All sounds normal to me.
Did someone say jokes? C'mon lagoya, we could use a little good cheer around here. :0
its normal betty
it's like the old cells trying to fire up again but they cant cause they have been ablated -try not to let this upset you or make u anxious -it is all in the healing process
you will be fine
if u are really worried we can start post ablation jokes
I think "back to normal" means you can get back to normal daily routines like work, cleaning house and so forth. Your heart will take longer to be quiet and behave itself.
Hi Betty-
Glad to hear you are feeling better. I just got home from my cardiologist to see what is going on with me (see my latest post). Maybe I am just being impatient but from everything I was told pre-ablation was that I would be back to normal within a few days. Now I'm two weeks out and still don't feel normal. I did start exercising last weekend but haven't been overduing it. I've been speed walking three miles and that seems to be good. A couple of time I had trouble cooling down but I think that was just nerves.
Hope all is well...
That is quite normal. After they ablate the various spots in the heart, they try to trigger the SVT again. If they try a few times and it doesn't start up, they consider the ablation a success. What you're feeling is probably the result of the irritated tissue in there. It takes some time to heal.
