MVP Chest Pain

Hi Folks,

For the longest time I have been experiencing left sided chest discomfort.  A squeezing sensation to be specific.  Recently I had yet another Nuclear Stress which came back negative. (I am 41 years old btw)  Anyway, this time the Cardiologist had the presence of mind to perform an Echo.  Viola! We have a diagnosis.  Mitral Valve Prolapse apparently.  My question is does this condition cause chest discomfort?  Anyone out there have this condition?  Can you describe what your discomfort feels like?  Thanks for reading.

He seemed to imply that was the cause as the Nuclear Stress Test came back negative indicating non anginal chest pain....That's my understanding anyway.  "See you in 6 months, call me if the pain gets any worse"  Was my sendoff.

My brother and a friend of mine both have it. My brother has had odd chest sensations on his left side as well, but his cardio said it is not typical of MVP to cause chest pain. He also will get skipped beats (as my friend does as well).

Does your doc think the MVP could cause it?
