I haven't tried drinking Crystal Light since starting Multaq in light of what I had read about grapefruit juice.
Thanks for your comments.
The report is specific to only eating Grapefruit or drinking Grapefruit juice. There is no mention of any other citric juices, including Crystal Light. Below is the information that you may have already seen but I thought you might be interested.
While you are taking this medicine, you should avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice. You may choose an alternative citrus beverage (such as orange juice). In the event that you are instructed by a healthcare professional (e.g., doctor, pharmacist, or dietitian) to eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice you should discuss with your doctor the effects of grapefruit on the blood levels of this medicine. These effects can occur even if grapefruit is not consumed at the same time of the Multaq dose.
Are you having undesired side effects that have you questioning your consumption of Crystal Light?
Wow looks like i should have read the warning label when my doc gave me to take them PRN or as necessary to re convert myself......okay i just went off of the site and read up on the label...they are telling us not to take it with the citrus because it effects how our body absorbs the Multaq for maximum performance of the med...if it were me and i had to take it on a daily basis i probably would stay away from all citrus drinks for sure because you want to give yourself the best shot possible...and thanks acho...even tho i haven't had to take one yet i drink alot of juices and will be aware of that if i am in that position to not take the pill with O.J. or grapefruit juice....you think the doc would have said something...thanks again.....
The literature mentions to not drink grapefruit juice while taking Multaq. Citric acid is a component of Crystal Light and grapefruit and I was wondering if it was the culprit.
acho....where did that question come from out of curiousity?
Hello...
There are no reports stating that Crystal Light is contraindicated while taking Multaq...When you got your prescription, attached to the bag, should've been a list of possible side effects and drugs/foods that are to be avoided. You can always call the pharmacy for questions you have pertaining to your medications.
Hope this helps answer your question :)
