I have had atrial fibrillation for 5 years now.  In the beginning by Dr. gave me dixigon and warfarin which worked for several years until I received the batch that was double coated which cause me to go into A-Fib on a regular basis. Have taking the double coated pill I then had a very slow pulse.  I then went to a EP/Cardiology and he put me on Flecainide and metoprolo for the A Fib and I have had no attacks sent then however I am losing my hair and the Dr. does not think it is the medicine. Have any of you used the Flecainide and if so have you had any problems.  Also if you use another drug that works well let me know so I can discuss with my Dr.

Sorry you are going thru this Viv....i had a pretty acute case of atrial fib among other things that got waaayyyyy out of control and my doc started me on Toprol @ a low dose and i didn't do so great on it and then he switched me to antenolol right before i made the decision to do a cryo ablation and it worked like magic for me.  My heart rate was getting progressive and ended up in the low 300's at the worst point but the ablation took care of that.  I have read from alot of others in the community that antenolol has worked wonders for them and i am a huge advocate of it and asked the doc to keep me on a low dose after the ablation as an extra safety net..so far so good for me i think...the great news is that hair grows back super fast and alot of times alot thicker the second time around so once you find the right med that you and your doc agree on i am pretty sure that you'll notice a huge difference w. your hair pretty quickly.....the great news is that you can wear it up or back during the summer months and can get pretty creative...good luck Viv......

I have been on flecainide for a few months and have been losing my hair too.  Spoke to my doctor and am switching to Multaq.  However, there are other side effects with that too :(

Hi and welcome. I've been on Flecainide for 2 years (50 mg TID) and the only side effect that I've had is wild, vivid dreams all night, every night. No hair loss problems for me. I recently had a PVI ablation for my afib and aflutter and hope to come off the Flecainide very soon.

I have read that some people have had success with Rhythmol. It didn't work for me, but everyone is different. There is also another drug called Tikosyn that several people on this message board are using but you'll want to research it first before going down that path.

Flecainide stopped working for me not too long ago and I had the choice of Tikosyn or the PVI ablation. I opted for the permanent fix instead of more drugs.
